Forrest Bottemiller Obituary

FORREST “FOE” BOTTEMILLER
September 7, 1928 ˜ June 8, 2021

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Forrest “Foe” Bottemiller, loving husband, father of three, and Christ’s faithful servant heard his Father’s voice say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Forrest was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Ridgefield, WA, to Esther and Daniel Bottemiller. He graduated Ridgefield High School in 1946 and entered the Army serving in Germany after the bombing. On Dec. 17, 1948, he married his sweetheart Doris Kelley. They celebrated 73 years of marriage. They raised two daughters, Rhonda Fragua (Salem, OR), Tami Cassity (Marsing, ID), and one son, Tracy (Kalama, WA). He has nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Forrest had a passion for Christ. His greatest prayer was that his loved ones, family and friends, know Christ’s saving grace. He enthusiastically shared his passion openly with anyone he met. He was an avid supporter of his church and took many mission trips including his latest to Hawaii, Mozambique and Madagascar. He was truly a prayer warrior for those he loved.
He was a great and avid sportsman. He loved salmon fishing and hunting. His greatest times were spent with his son, family and close friends out on the river or on a hunting adventure. He was truly a people person, never meeting someone he wouldn’t talk to and invite home for dinner.
Along with his Heavenly Father, those who greeted him into his new home are his father, Daniel; his mother, Esther; two of his three brothers, Curtis and Jerry; and his three sisters, Elaine Oquist, Ina Heriford, and Jeanette Andring; his son-in-law, Marvin Fragua; and his great-grandson, Francisco Fragua. He is survived by his wife, Doris; his three children, Rhonda, Tami (Don), Tracy; and his younger brother, Dean; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene, 14410 NW 21st Avenue, Vancouver (Salmon Creek area) at 3 p.m. Please join us to celebrate his life. Internment will be Monday, June 28, 2 p.m., family only.

Grandpa, I sure miss you a lot. I remember every memory we spent together.

One of my most vivid memories was when I was four and you, Dad and I would go to the Nemah River (or under the bridge as I knew it) and catch dogs bigger than me.

I can't even fathom how many pieces of wood we split together or pieces of scrap taken apart.

I don't regret moving to Missouri be with my amazing Wife but I do regret not coming back once in a while to see you more. I wish I could have been in that hospital room holding your hand as you passed to be with Jesus.

You'll always be my fishing buddy, my hunting buddy, chopping wood buddy, scrapping buddy but most of all, my Loving Grandpa.

Hopefully I'll see you again one day and we can relive all those memories over again.

It was a sad day when we learned of the death of our dear friend Foe Bottemiller. We have know him and his family for about 25 years and we found he was a committed Christian and dedicated to proclaim the Gospel to anyone that would take the time to listen. He was ready to take Missionary trips that were challenging for a man of his age.
He also was a avid sportsman that loved to fish and hunt and even took me fishing many times. We will miss our dear friend and pray for the loved ones that now deal with the loss of their husband, father, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and a host of friends. Our Love Don & Grace

The few times I was able to visit with Grandpa were so special. I immediately fell in love with him the first time we met. I wish I could've spent more time talking with him, learning how to fish, and learning more about him. Guess I'll have to wait until heaven! Love you Grandpa!

Forrest Bottemiller is the best fisherman I have ever seen, and I doubt there will ever be a better one.
I first met Foe as a child tagging along with my father, he always made it a point to talk to me, as a kid it meant a lot. There is not the time nor space here to even scratch the surface of his abilities with a rod and reel or as a human being. Though I seldom saw him in later years, he never failed to recognize me and greet me warmly. I am at a loss here, God bless and keep you Foe.
