Forrest Louis Freitag II

Forrest Louis Freitag II, better known as Lou, passed away on December 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Born in Houston, Texas on March 31, 1952, Lou was the cherished son of Forrest Louis Freitag (Tag) and Jane McCray Freitag. From a young age, Lou had a zest for life and a love for the great outdoors. Whether he was honing his marksmanship skills, hunting in the Texas hill country, or casting his line in the nearest fishing hole, Lou felt most himself surrounded by nature's beauty. Beyond his outdoor pursuits, Lou was known for his generous spirit and genuine kindness. He had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend, never hesitating to lend a helping hand or share a memorable story. Once you met Lou, you were friends for life.

Lou is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest Freitag (Tag) and Jane McCray Freitag.

He is survived by a large and loving family who will forever hold him dear in their hearts. His son, Forrest Freitag III and spouse Alysha Freitag; his daughter, Tiffany Hicks and spouse Daniel Hicks; his sister, Jan Barnes and spouse Doug Barnes; his grandchildren: Ava Freitag, Cheyenne Adams, Landry Vogelman, Nash Freitag, Liam Adams, Aubree Vogelman, Cooper Vogelman, Elaina Adams, Dayton Hicks, Everett Freitag, and IvyJane Hicks. Lou is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends. He is also survived by his longtime friend, Linda Daenzer.

As we say goodbye to Lou, let us remember him for his compassionate heart, his ready smile, and his dedication to his faith. May his spirit of adventure and his capacity for connection, live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Lou, and may your laughter echo throughout eternity.

The family will honor Lou with a Celebration of Life gathering on January 3rd, 2026 at 2pm at Briggs Baptist Church: 505 Loop 308, Briggs Texas 78608.
