Forrest Richard Hicks was born February 6, 1959, and departed this life Thursday, November 20, 2025, reaching the age of 66 years. Forrest was the oldest child of the late Marvin and Mary Ann (Smith) Hicks.

He is survived by: his wife, Susan Agee Hicks; two sons, Daniel Hicks (Chelsie) and Tyler Hicks (Bertie); grandchildren, Milo, Hudson, Shia, and Gideon; step children, Betsy Marlow, Joshua Tucker (Tammy), and Lucas Tucker; and step grandchildren, Bethany and Wesley Marlow, Griffin, Autumn, Riley, and Aiden Tucker. He is also survived by his siblings: Gordon Hicks (Marla), Jill Lawson (Steve), and Jan Lewis (Larry); along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

Forrest was a 1977 graduate of Monticello High School. He attended the University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University and Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He held a B.S in Criminal Justice, Board Certified by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators(ABMDI), Investigator Affiliate membership with the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), and was a member of the Kentucky Coroner's Association(KCA) Board of Directors, and the Kentucky Coroners/Medical Examiners Incident Response Team.

Forrest has worn many hats during his lifetime. He began working as a young teen delivering flowers for the Marvin S. Hicks Florist. During high school he worked for the family EMT service. While attending college, he volunteered as a fire fighter for the Monticello Fire Department. After college he worked in Physical Therapy before deciding to go back to school to earn his Funeral Director/Embalmers license. He then began his career as a funeral director/embalmer for the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home and as deputy coroner for the Wayne County Coroner's Office with his father. After his father's retirement, he became Coroner for Wayne County.

He attended First Christian Church of Monticello and was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #431.

Forrest had a great sense of humor; he loved telling jokes and quoting favorite movie lines. He enjoyed watching trains, listening to jazz, and playing computer games. He enjoyed learning new things and advancing his education; and he loved sharing his knowledge with others.

He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, wonderful brother, and a supportive and encouraging friend and neighbor. He will certainly be missed by his family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2025, between 3 pm – 9 pm with Masonic services at 6 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
