Forrest "Buddy" Ray, 80 originally of Woodstock, IL, recently of Hayward, WI and Metropolis, IL, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Woodstock, IL.
Buddy worked for the Woodstock Rural Fire Department and Woodstock School Districts for 20 years. He loved working with his hands, especially bricklaying and woodworking. He made many beautiful things for his home and family members over the years. Buddy enjoyed the infamous boys only fishing trips, traveling from North to South finding the best fishing spots. He was an associate Harley owner for many years and a member of the American Legion.
Forrest is survived by his wife of 43 years, Denise Ray; children, Ruth Kormanak and husband Steve and Larry Ray; grandchildren, Amber Huff (Jim), Andrew Huff (Amanda) and Bessie Bennefield (Ted); great grandchildren, Ryder Hegemann, Wyatt Huff, Chloe Huff and Remi Huff-Schwartz; brother, Charles Ray and wife Dixie; several nieces and his beloved four-legged friend, Pistol Pete.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Alice Ray; sister and brother-in-law, Lori Strang and Dennis; and niece, Sheila Ray.
Memorial contributions may be given in Buddy's name to Mercy Health Hospice, 225 Medical Center Drive, Suite 203, Paducah, KY 42003.
Arrangements were entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis, IL.
