Larry Thomas Ray, 78, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 17, 1947, Larry was the son of the late Hubert and Frances Ray. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Ray, and Parents.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Betty Ray, and their children: Kathy & Jimmy Swain, Dawn Ray, and Ernie Cochran. He was a proud and loving Papa to seven grandchildren: Tiffany Broderick, Samantha & Josh Robinson, Kristen & Brent Grubbs, Cory & Danielle Cochran, Brian & Kealoah Rando, Bailee Weathers, and Tyler & Meygan Cochran, as well as to Savannah Swain. His legacy continues through his 19 great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. Larry is also survived by his two siblings and a niece, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Larry served his country honorably as a United States Navy veteran, a service of which he was immensely proud. After his military service, he began a long and fulfilling career with Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he worked as an engineer for 31 years before retiring.
A man of deep integrity, humor, and heart, Larry was known for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and his love for NASCAR racing. He loved gathering with his family, sharing stories, laughter, and the simple joys of life.
