Forta Harvin Obituary
Forta Lavachele Harvin was born January 15, 1975 to James Wendell and Sandra Fair Harvin. He attended school in Greensboro, NC until his dad's job transferred the family to Oklahoma City, OK. Forta graduated from Yukon High School and attended Oklahoma State University. While in high school, Forta played football, was a member of the marching band, and worked a part time job.
After his brother joined the Navy and returned from a tour on the Eisenhower Carrier, in 2003, Forta moved to Newport News, VA to be closer to his brother. Forta retired in 2025 for UPS after 30 years of dedicated service. During his spare time, he had a passion for his classic cars, he enjoyed bowling, watching cartoons and watching wrestling. He was a devoted WWE follower. He loved to attend live wrestling matches and attended many live matches. He even had his own wrestling belts and a collection of pictures and autographs.
Forta's legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories to his dad, James and his mom, Sandra; one brother, E. Devon Harvin (Nayo) of Columbia, SC; his niece that he truly loved, Kai'Mariya of Columbia, SC and her dog, Skylar; his aunts, Dr. Rev. Norma Fair Brown (Otis) of Woodstock, GA and Miriam Fair Durham (Ike) of Irmo, SC; a special family of Newport News, VA who fell in love with Forta and treated him like a son; and his godchildren, Tony and Karen Matthew, Aysiah, Julian, Ariyana, and Jordan; and a host of loving family and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Elreta Harvin and Lawrence and Mildred Fair; uncles, Lawrence R. Fair and Glen Harvin; and his great-aunt, Argertha Jackson (passed away on October 3 at the age of 91).
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
The service will be lived-streamed on the Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home's Facebook page.
