Fr. Giles Richard Dimock

Father Giles Richard Dimock, O.P. died peacefully on February 28, 2026, at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, New York.

Richard Beaudreau Dimock was born in New London, CT, on February 24, 1939, the son of Richard Sylvia Dimock and Georgiana Beaudreau Dimock.

Fr. Dimock was ordained in Washington, DC in 1966 and spent much of his priesthood teaching theology and liturgy, serving Dominican communities in the United States and abroad. He taught for many years at Providence College and later at Franciscan University of Steubenville, with additional teaching assignments in Ohio, Rome, Austria, and at Holy Apostles Seminary in Connecticut. He later served at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC as an Academic Dean and Prior. In his later years, he served Dominican communities and parishes in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Charlottesville, Virginia; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before returning to Washington, DC.

Fr. Giles is survived by his siblings, Barbara Delbene and Robert Dimock, and Robert's wife, Mary Dimock. He was preceded in death by his sister, Georgia Dimock. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Fr. Giles Dimock touched countless lives throughout his priesthood and will be deeply missed. The Funeral Mass will be held on March 6, at 10 am at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville, NY. Burial will follow at All Souls' Cemetery in Pleasantville. Donations in memory of Fr. Giles Dimock, O.P. may be made to the Dominican Friars Foundation at 141 East 65th Street, New York, NY 10065.
