Frances M. Abbott

On February 25,2026, our loving mother, Frances Abbott, left her life here on earth to rise with angels in the most peaceful way. She was a remarkable woman with incredible strength who was fortunate enough to celebrate a milestone of 100 years in July surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Frances was the baby of the Chiari family–the 12th child born to Domenica and Giovanni Chiari. She grew up among her siblings working at the family store in Seabrook, New Jersey. She was an honor student at Bridgeton High School. She went on to attend the Wilfred Beauty Academy in Philadelphia where she enjoyed many new experiences that she liked to reminisce about with us. She met Richard Abbott at a barn dance and soon they married. Frances and Richard were dedicated to each other for over 60 years before he passed away in 2008.

Her Italian heritage and her love for food supported her other love, which was cooking and nourishing her family. Anyone who knew her would attest to the fact she was an accomplished cook and she took great pride in preparing holiday feasts. In addition to her culinary interests Frances was an avid Phillies fan and knew every player's name. She spent many days enjoying baseball and cheering for her team on TV. In her later years, she really looked forward to visits from her many nieces and nephews in Seabrook, whom she loved dearly.

Frances was predeceased by her 11 siblings: Columbia, John, Modesto, Disiderio, Jerry, Angelo, Clarence, Augusta, Prenda, William, and Danti.

She is survived by her children: Donna Hinckley (Tom), Norwalk, CT; Richard V Abbott III (Lois), Millville, NJ; Bruce Abbott, Millville, NJ; Kathleen Carselle (John), Dayton, OH; and Carol Pozzi (David), Medford,NJ. She left a legacy of 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Though she is no longer with us, her love and lessons will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10AM to 11AM prior to the services. Interment will take place on Monday, March 9th at 11AM at Greenwood Memorial Park, E. Broad St., Millville, NJ.
