Obituary For Frances Irene Bierens

Frances Irene Bierens, age 99 of McBain, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Sunnyside Assisted Living in Cadillac. Frances was born on October 2, 1925 in Richland Township to Jacob and Gertie (DeBoer) Hofstra.

Frances was a member of the Rehoboth Reformed Church of Lucas, and was involved with the Ladies Circle and Ladies Service Day. She spent time sewing and crocheting, loving her grandchildren and going to their sporting events. Frances loved working outdoors in her flower garden. She also enjoyed traveling and making several trips. Frances was an avid Tigers baseball fan.

Frances is survived by her children; Phyllis (Don) Eisenga of Marion, Jerry Bierens of Milford, and Gail Chucta, grandchildren; Brenda Sue (Michael) Larr, Kevin Duane (Tami) Eisenga, Shawn Matzen, Lizelle Ann (James) Bazuin and Chan (Becky) Wiinikainen, several great and great-great grandchildren, sister in-law Kay Hofstra, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Casper Bierens, an infant sister, daughter Donna Wiinikainen, son in-law Dallas Wiinikainen, grandson Chris Wiinikainen, brothers Merton (Katherine) Hofstra, Raymond (Helen) Hofstra and Harold Hofstra.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 20th at the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Pastor Kathy Vana officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 at the church and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. A luncheon will take place after the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Richland Township cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the Rehoboth Reformed Church of Lucas and/or Hospice of Michigan.
