Obituary for Frances Bland

Frances Bland, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, passed away on September 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with illness. She was born on November 2, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Clarence James Bartlett and Estelle Mary Bartlett (née Leishman).

Frances was a woman of many joys; she had a deep love for painting and cherished the moments spent playing bingo with friends. She found peace and happiness at Indian Acres, where she loved to gather with family and create lasting memories.

She is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Julie Marie Barrett (Jason) and Anita Estelle Coakley (David), along with her adored grandchildren: Amber Warren, Matthew Warren, David Coakley Jr., Ajahlin Ayers, Brianna Coakley, Levi Barrett, Jace Barrett, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. Frances is also survived by her loving sisters, Marion Scarbro and Claire Ervine, and her brother, Clarence Bartlett Jr.

Frances was preceded in death by her father, Clarence James Bartlett; her mother, Estelle Mary Bartlett (née Leishman); her beloved husband, David Allen Bland; her loving son, Earl Delano Rose Jr.; her grandson, Justin Rose; and her sisters, Patsy Mandel and Amy Wree.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, she is now free from pain and reunited with those who went before her.

A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, where Frances will be laid to rest next to her husband, David Allen Bland. A Celebration of Life will follow from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Agape Life Services Funeral Home, and the family welcomes everyone who wishes to attend.

Frances's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
