Frances Dyess Brantley passed away August 26, 2024 at the age of 95. She was born June 20, 1929 in Monroeville, Alabama to the late James Lumon Dyess and Mattie Lee McInnis Dyess.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Blanch Brantley; sister, Earlene Dyess (Clayton) Barnes; mother and father-in-law, Maude and Will Brantley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene (Bobby) Grissette, Marie (Bob) Echols, Judy (Bill) Ingram; nephew, Robert Echols and Billy Ingram; nephew-in-law, Curly Turner.
She is survived by her son, James W. (Lynette) Brantley; daughter, Denise B. (Ken) Howorth; grandchildren, Heath W. Brantley, Hillary H. (Aaron) Strassner; great-grandchild, Henry James Strassner; nieces, Madalyn B. (Morgan) Kitchens, Susan (Jack) Boothe, Deborah Turner, Pam (Bobby) McCullough; nephew, Butch Grissette and beloved caregivers, Stella Capps, Deborah Blocton, Kay Little, Mary Dunn, Robin Lynn Reed, Carolyn Steele and Victoria Cleveland.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Burns, Steve Sansom and the entire staff at Vaughn Regional ICU for their attentive, loving care as well as countless friends and family that have stood by them during this time.
She was a lifetime member of the Houston Park Church of Christ. She loved her church and church family. Her children, grandchildren, one great-grandchild and other family were the highlight of her life. She was a great cook and loved sharing her pies and cakes with friends and neighbors. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved doing things for other people. She was a true Southern Belle with a beautiful smile that would light up any room.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Houston Park Church of Christ with Minister Van Sprague officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers will be Heath Brantley, Butch Grissette, Morgan Kitchens, Joe Thornton, Jimmy Morrow and Ken Carmichael. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Burns, Forest Hatfield, Bo Morrow, Doug Ferguson, Ken Howorth.
The family will accept flowers or you may consider memorial donations to Houston Park Church of Christ.
