Frances M. Buchanan, known affectionately as Frances to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, at the age of 90, in her hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. Born on October 21, 1933, Frances lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her unwavering devotion to her loved ones and her enduring spirit of kindness.
Frances was the beloved matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Anna P. Wyatt, and her husband William Ray Wyatt; her son, David F. Picklesimer; her sister, Shirley Shultz, and her husband Jack. Frances was a cherished grandmother to Angie Crawford, Jennifer Cisson, Julie Kelley, and her husband Keith, Amanda Palanza, and her husband Anthony, Janice Picklesimer, and Toby Davis and his wife Lisa. Her legacy extends to her adored great-grandchildren, Hannah Luker, Matthew Luker, Isabella Palanza, Alexandria Palanza, Salvatore Palanza, Adam Crawford, Brooke Crawford, Haley Kelley, and Tiffany (Michael) Bradberry, as well as her treasured great-great-grandchild, Lizzie Parson.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Buchanan, her parents, Edna Mae and James Arthur Seigler, her daughter, Pamela F. Picklesimer, her daughter-in-law, Terri Moore Picklesimer, and her second husband, Earl Forrester.
A skilled seamstress by trade, Frances's artistry and meticulous craftsmanship were evident in every stitch. Her handiwork brought warmth and beauty to the lives of those around her, and she took great pride in her ability to create and mend with equal dexterity.
Frances's life was a testament to her love for her family. She was the heart of family gatherings, especially during the holidays, and she relished organizing trips to the beach and the mountains, creating lasting memories for her children and grandchildren. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, and she embodied a loving and spirited soul.
An active individual, Frances enjoyed staying fit through regular exercise and taking long walks that not only kept her body but also her mind sharp. Her love for shopping was matched only by her joy in attending church trips, where she connected with her community and deepened her faith. Frances's hands were rarely still, as she found solace and joy in crocheting, baking, and sewing—talents she lovingly passed down to the next generations. She was a Lifetime member of Park Place Church of God.
Never one to miss a day of church, Frances's faith was a cornerstone of her life. This faith instilled in her the values of love and kindness, which she demonstrated daily through her actions and interactions with others. She was a beacon of light and warmth, touching the lives of everyone she met with her gentle spirit.
Frances's legacy is one of love, dedication, and the joy of a life well-lived. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared at family gatherings, the softness of the crocheting she crafted, and the strength of the bonds she fostered within her family. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit continues to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we bid farewell to Frances M. Buchanan, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and the grace of a truly unique woman. Her journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the impact of her love and the echoes of her laughter will resonate for generations to come.
