Frances Casale Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals & Cremation Service on Feb. 26, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frances (Fran, Franny) Casale, who left us peacefully surrounded by family on February 23, 2026. She was born on January 10, 1941, the child of Robert and Marie Joyce. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where she also raised her family. Fran also helped run the family shoe business on Newkirk Plaza in Midwood. Always a very hard worker, she then began her career at JPMorgan on Wall Street. Her job moved her to Newark, DE, where she has lived for the last 32 years.

As the youngest of 8 children in a large Irish-Catholic family, she is survived by her sister Dorothy (Jack) Bunn and preceded in death by her siblings, Helen (William) Senft, Robert (Jacqueline) Joyce, Virginia (Ralph) Vanacore, James (Louise) Joyce, Mary (Vincent) Petrosino, and Loretta (Frank) Obeda. Fran had a strong Catholic upbringing, which she carried throughout her life. She was married to Louis Casale (deceased), and they were very devoted and loving parents to their daughters, Ann (Eric) Stofflet and Laura (Eric) Maida. Frances (also known as Mema) had tremendous affection for her 3 beloved grandchildren, Nicholas (Danielle) Maida, Brianna (Spencer) Kerrigan, and Emily Stofflet. Frances was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. She had many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all with whom she had an unbreakable bond and with whom she stayed in touch and loved very much.

Fran had an incredible talent for making friends. Always a great listener with a caring, inquisitive nature, she enjoyed conversations with everyone she met. Frances was well-known for her warm, caring, and generous heart. She was proud of her Irish heritage and was a devout Catholic her entire life, always praying and saying novenas for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, sewing/mending all family clothing, cooking for family, couponing, listening to music, spending holidays with family, winning nearly every trivia game (especially Jeopardy), and math games, as she was great with numbers.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Fran's legacy of kindness, love, and caring will continue to inspire all those who knew her, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at St. Gabriel's Main Church located at 100 N Main St Marlboro, New Jersey 07746. Directly following the Funeral, in accordance with her wishes, a short ceremony will take place at Holy Cross Crematory 840 Cranbury - South River Road Jamesburg, NJ 08831
