Maria (Frances) Francisquita Gallegos Chacon, born on October 10, 1932 in
Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026 with her family by her side. Frances, a compassionate and loving soul, was known for her humble and generous nature. She spent much of her life providing for others. After retiring from the Federal Government, Frances settled in Utah, where she enjoyed spending her time with family, reading, playing Bingo, dancing, working on puzzles and watching The GOAT, Michael Jordan play Basketball with the Chicago Bulls.
Frances led a full and vibrant life, living in several states including New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia, Illinois, Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Utah. What mattered most to Frances were her children, grandchildren and her beloved dog, Buddha. Frances leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters Lillie Gillespie ( Douglas), Debra Chacon (George), Vickie Hopson, Nancy Chacon, and Peggy McAllister, and her son Chris Chacon. Her sisters, Maria Martinez (Carlos) Bertha Jacques, and June Severin (Tony) She was also a proud grandmother to Morgan (O'Ryan) Mackenzie, Nicole (Danny) Chris, Curtis, Justin, Stacey (Dana) Tobi (Adam) David, Alex, Macie, Matt, Crystal, Antonia, and Veronica, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, other family members, and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Lily Gallegos, and her children Wanda Nacario, Anthony Chacon, Dixie Bermijo, Mario Chacon, and Ron Chacon and siblings, Gilbert, Julia, Delores, Orlando, Diana, Helen, Philbert, and John.
As we remember Frances, we are reminded of the verse from Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Frances lived her life in accordance with these teachings, providing comfort and love to those around her.
