Ms. Frances Oleeta Brim Chilton, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Ms. Chilton was born January 14, 1939, in Surry County, one of nine children born to the late Romney Samuel and Voda Gammons Brim. Oleeta worked for many years at Quality Mills and later at Renfro Corporation. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by two children, Marty Chilton (Susie) and Cindy Smith; five grandchildren, Brooke Brim (Brandon), Megan Coble (Matt), Matt Chilton (Bianca), Ben Chilton, and Abby Gough (Carson); seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Kornella Martin (Donald); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Chilton was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Chilton; a grandson, Mason Gilley; two sisters, Leeronie Easter and Vernie Watson; and five brothers, Gloma Brim, Plato Brim, Reavis Brim, Bronson Brim, and Delbert Brim. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Robbie Sizemore and the Rev. Buford E. Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfield Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
