Mrs. Deborah Tate, age 72, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, March 2, 2026, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Tate was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, on February 26, 1954, to the late Norma Faith Griffin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Tate worked for many years at Spencer’s and Cross Creek. Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 55 years, Herman Eugene Tate; daughters, Becky Tate and Jerry, Marsha Tate; grandchildren, Jacob Caviness, Amber Tate; great grandchildren, Willow Holmes, Serenity Holmes; sister-in-law, Paula Griffin; nephew, Banner Griffin and Alisha. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her brothers, Donnie Griffin, Steven Griffin. A graveside service to honor Mrs. Tate’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the gravesite from 10:00 AM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Tate family.
