Frances Cleve

Frances B. "Fran" Cleve passed away peacefully May 10, 2024, at her home in Escondido, California. Fran was born December 2, 1939, in Provost, Alberta, Canada, to Frank and Mary Pflanz. She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 62 years Vern E. Cleve. Fran had four brothers and one sister, Tom, Edwin, Arnold, Jim, and Dolores. Fran began her career as an elementary school teacher in Canada. It was on a train in Canada where she met Vernon Cleve, who was working on the rail tracks. Their chance encounter blossomed into a beautiful love story, and they married soon after. Together, they opened a coffee shop in Canada. However, their dreams and ambitions led them to seek greater opportunities, prompting their move to the United States in the late 1960s. Fran's remarkable aptitude and dedication led her to a distinguished career as a banker, serving as controller and Vice President with Mitsubishi Bank of California, which later became Rancho Santa Fe National Bank. Fran and Vernon had the high privilege of traveling the world and savoring life's delicacies, enriching their lives with unforgettable experiences and treasured memories. Though she never had children of her own, Fran lovingly embraced her nieces, nephews, and close friends as her very own, all of whom will forever cherish her memory till the end of time. Fran's warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. To those who knew her, Fran was truly the personification of kindness, love, and gratitude. Fran's legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit remains a guiding light for her family and friends.
