Frances Coon Obituary

Frances Moravec Coon, age 92, a dedicated family member and lifelong resident of the Adams-Friendship area, peacefully passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Rosebrooke Senior Living in Adams, Wisc.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisc. Mr. Coy Sawyer will officiate. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at Roseberry's Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Bay View Cemetery, Necedah, Wisc., at a later date. Frances was born March 22, 1933 in Mauston, Wisc., to Frank Louis Moravec and Eleanor Elaine Perkins. Frances graduated from Necedah High School with the Class of 1951. That same year, she married Raymond "Sonny" Roberts, and they soon made their home in the Adams-Friendship area. They were blessed with four children: Kathie, Nancy, Brenda, and Raymond "Butch". Frances first served the community by working for the Adams-Friendship Area Schools, where she loved her time as the cook for the Adams Elementary School. Later, she and Sonny owned and operated the Ford dealership, Roberts Motors, until Sonny's retirement. After Sonny's passing in 1993, Frances married Marshall Coon in 1998. They resided in Adams and enjoyed their "summer home" on Castle Rock Lake until Marshall's passing in 2024. A true enthusiast of life, Frances was an avid golfer who holds the course record for women at Moundview Golf Course. Remarkably, she was still able to play golf until June of this year at the age of 92. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and playing softball, and later in life, she and Marshall loved going to weekend dances.

Frances was an active member of her community and faith, holding memberships with the Adams Trinity Congregational Church, Faith in Action, Moundview Golf Course, and Partners of Gundersen Moundview Hospital. She also held a dual membership to the Order of Eastern Star Kilbourn Chapter #120 of Wisconsin Dells and Rainbow Chapter #87 of Wisconsin Rapids. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Eleanor Moravec; first husband, Raymond "Sonny" Roberts; daughter, Brenda L. Quinnell; second husband, Marshall Coon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond L. and Grace Roberts; son-in-law, Paul Macewicz; sisters, Geraldine Moravec and Eleanor Huska; brothers-in-law, Donald Hedman, Joe Huska, Homer Roberts, Harry Redding, Don Goetsch, and Ed Coon; sisters-in-law, Lois Hedman, Ruth Roberts, Karen Redding, and Joy Coon. Frances is lovingly survived by her children, Kathie (Jerry) Dye, Nancy (Claude Hiller) Macewicz, and Butch (Lori) Roberts; son-in-law, Robert Quinnell; grandchildren, Carrie (Scott Young) Allard, Jennifer Henson, Kevin (Amy) Dye, Christopher Macewicz, Amy Macewicz, Chad (Karen) Rhinehart, Heather Rhinehart, and Abby Quinnell; great-grandchildren, Jen (Devin) Marlowe, Justin (Michelle) Allard, Allie (Brandon) Newton, Hayden Dye, Macie Dye, Ella Henson, Kayla Plaski, Eleanor Pennings, Caroline Pennings, Ethan Kallies, and Logan Lucas; great-great grandchildren, Garrett Marlowe, Emily Marlowe, and Jalen Newton; stepdaughters, Rita Mayamak and Marti Coon; step-grandchildren, Kelly, Quinn, Chad, Kristi, Karrie, Katie, Brett, and KC; and many step great and great-great grandchildren; and brother and sisters-in-law, Tony and Kate Deichl and Patricia Goetsch. Further survived by many many dear nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Rosebrooke Senior Living and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heart of Wisconsin Shriners Hospital or to The Partners of Gundersen Moundview Hospital. Roseberry's Funeral Home (www.roseberrys.com) is assisting the family.
