Frances Cox Obituary
Frances Rose Cox, lovingly known as Fran, passed away on December 25, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, John (Jack) and Rose Martens; her beloved husband of 48 years, Edward Olin Cox; her son, Jeffrey Cox; and her grandson, Jeffrey Jarzyk.
Fran is survived by her sister, Susan Gilligan; her son, Gregory Cox, and his wife, Elizabeth, and their four daughters, Christina (Stephen), Nicole, Angela, and Maria; and her two great-grandsons, Henry and James. She is also survived by her loving and cherished daughter, Diane Cox. Fran is further survived by her grandchildren, Lyndsey Paige and Travis, children of her late son, Jeffrey Cox; as well as her niece, Abby Barron-Fox, and her nephew, Seth Gilligan.
Born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Fran was a lifelong resident of Hamilton Township. She was a proud graduate of Ewing High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career as an administrative professional and bookkeeper. Fran worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Certified Steel/Sherwood Leasing, followed by years as a bookkeeper at Archer Steel. Most recently, she generously shared her expert accounting skills by managing the books for her son Greg's medical practice.
Fran was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. What she loved most was being together-whether going on vacation, out to dinner, or sitting around the table working on a puzzle.
Some of Fran's favorite memories were made while traveling with those she loved. She especially cherished trips to the Jersey Shore, Skytop Lodge, Hershey Park, and the Villa Roma Resort, where family reunions created lasting traditions and laughter-filled days. Closer to home, Fran found just as much happiness in life's simple pleasures-grabbing a pizza in Chambersburg, cooking Sunday night dinner, weekend sleepovers with her 4 granddaughters, and breakfast at Fred & Pete's Deli -moments that became meaningful rituals for everyone she loved.
Fran was a devoted and enthusiastic spectator at her granddaughters' many activities. She could always be found cheering from the sidelines at basketball, field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse games, and proudly watching Irish dance competitions and school performances. Her presence, encouragement, and unwavering support meant the world to them.
Fran did not rush through life; she took the time to enjoy the small moments that mattered most. In quieter moments, she enjoyed reading, cross-stitching, and gardening-hobbies that reflected her appreciation for simple joys. She was always up for an adventure and truly loved to jump in the car for a drive, never needing much of a plan-just good company and the open road.
Fran's warmth, enthusiasm for life, and deep love for her family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the countless memories she created and the love she shared so freely with all who knew her.
