Frances Ann Crafton, age 84, of May passed away peacefully September 28, 2025. A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, September 30 from 9 to 10:30 AM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, prior to a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Lost Creek Cemetery in May.
Frances was born December 26, 1940 in May, Texas to Ben and Elizabeth Cook. She graduated from May High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Howard Payne University. Frances met the love of her life, Darrel Wayne Crafton and the two were married February 20, 1960. The couple was blessed with three children. Frances loved to garden all of her life and enjoyed playing gospel hymns on her piano! She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brownwood for many years.
Frances was a Registered Nurse for 50 years, having worked at All Saints Hospital, Billy Carpenter's office in Rising Star, Rising Star Nursing and Rehabilitation, the VA clinic in Brownwood and served as the school nurse for May ISD. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career. Frances is survived by her children, Tonja Ranae Walker and husband Mike of Cross Plains, Darrel Shane Crafton and wife Valerie of Henrietta, Jimmy Wayne Crafton and wife Colleen Ryan-Crafton of Waynesville, Ohio; brothers, Ben Cook Jr. and wife Jolene of Early, Robert Cook and wife Maria of Brownwood; grandchildren, Heath Walker and wife Donnis, Tiffany Walker Fox and husband Michael, Tyler Crafton, Ryan Crafton and fiancé Sophia, Lindsey Crafton Hoff and husband Kirkland, Ben, Anna, Sarah and Daniel Crafton; great-grandchildren Navy Fox of May, Leo and Dawson Hoff of Henrietta.
Frances was preceded in death by both of her parents, Ben and Elizabeth Cook and her husband of 58 years, Darrell Wayne Crafton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Lost Creek Cemetery Association.
