May 10, 1943 – March 12, 2026
On March 12, 2026, Frances said goodbye to her earthly home at the age of 82. On May 10, 1943, she said hello to her family when she was born to Harmel Jacob Bauer and Fern Ashdown Bauer in
Cedar City, UT. She joined her family of eight siblings.
Frances graduated from Cedar High School where she made life-long friends. She married Kenneth R Davis ("Ken" also affectionately known as RamMan) on November 21, 1959. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George, Utah temple. Together they raised two kids; Kenneth L Davis ("Kenny") and Kristin and a bonus daughter Angie Keller.
Frances was well known in the community for; her daily driver a 1966 Ford Mustang that she gave up for her green Jeep so she could tote around her sidekick , being on the leader board for High Average and High Game at Cedar Bowling Center for decades, and her bargain shopping which she would so willingly share her secrets with anyone she ran into.
She described herself as a "jack of all trades and a master of none," but if you knew Frances, you know that was not the case. Anything she did she did well and she went all out. Whether it was bowling, sewing, baking, playing, party planning, serving, or loving you, she did it with all her heart. Those who knew her understood that her greatest accomplishment was her family and the love she shared with them.
Frances was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served faithfully in several callings. She was also a hard worker and held many jobs that she loved and of course made amazing friends at; Mountain Bell, SUSC, and IHC Cedar City Hospital to name a few.
There was always a seat at the table where Frances sat, she accepted everyone for who they were and loved unconditionally. Family (which included many friends) was always at the center of her life. She was the biggest cheerleader and rarely missed an opportunity to support her kids and grandkids as well as all of their teammates and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ken; her son Kenny and his wife Ann, along with their wonderful family: Braden Davis and wife Kennedy and their children Averie and Beckett; Brecia Scott and husband Mark and their children Nellie, Jaxon, and Maren; Jayce Davis; Baylee Davis; and Tana Davis and Daniel Jordan and their daughters Mela, Sia and Mea.
She also leaves behind her beautiful daughter Kristin Davis Hunsaker, her husband Allen, and their daughter Rydglin ("Rydgee"). Through Allen she was also blessed with his children, Collins, Brittney, and Felecia and their families.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Annette Bauer, brother-in-law Don Johnson and her sister and best friend Barbara Jeanne "Bobbie" Bauer Flint, brothers-in-law Don and Kevin Davis, sister-in-law Arlene Davis and many beloved nieces and nephews,
Bobbie was more than a sister - she was truly a BBF (Best Bowling Friend). The two of them traveled all over the United States bowling in national tournaments. While they might not have been the world's greatest bowlers, the only real requirements were signing up, paying the entry fee, and having fun - and they absolutely did. The trips were filled with laughter, especially while playing Catch Phrase with friends from Texas, whose accents made the game even more entertaining. As she often said, they didn't need booze to have fun - just a bunch of crazy ladies and a lot of laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harmel and Fern Bauer and many beloved siblings: Denton Bauer and his wife Mary; Arlen Bauer and his wife Marilyn; Karlynn Nelson and her husband Ted, whom she lovingly referred to as her second mother; Theon "Bud" Bauer; Margaret Tait and her husband Adrian (Ade) Tait, whom she considered heroes for caring for their mother; Janice Johnson; and Sharon Bauer, who taught the family the true meaning of unconditional love, compassion, and acceptance of all God's children. Along with her sister-in-law Betty Dutton and her husband Elton.
She shared one last bit of humor:
"If you are unable to attend my services, that's no problem - because I won't be attending yours either."
She asked forgiveness from anyone she may have unintentionally offended during her lifetime and offered heartfelt thanks to the many people who helped and supported her along the way. Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation to Ethan Bunker who was not only a great friend but also provided hospice services for the last few weeks of Frances' life.
Most of all, she leaves this message for those she loved:
This is not goodbye… it's simply "See you later."
