Keith L Lasson
1943 ~ 2026
Cedar City, UT-Keith Lasson, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home on March 17, 2026 in
Cedar City, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born on January 14, 1943 in
Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Helen Emelyn Frandsen and Edgar Eugene Lasson. From an early age, Keith learned the value of hard work and working with his hands-skills that would shape not only his life but the lives of those around him. Keith grew up in
Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
Keith graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1961. During his school years he played football, ran track, raised horses-which he used on his paper route- and built muscle cars. He was known for his charm and earned the nickname "Romeo." Growing up in Mt. Pleasant, he worked several jobs, but he especially loved working alongside his father at his Ford dealership.
In 1960, Keith joined the Utah National Guard, in
Mt. Pleasant, Utah, as 13 Bravo, in Field Artillery. He attended basic training at Fort Ord, California, and AIT at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During his service in the National Guard, he was awarded the distinct honor of Soldier of the Year.
After basic training, Keith moved to Salt Lake City to work on the construction of Interstate
1-15. He traveled to Southern Utah during the week to work on the interstate between St. George and Mesquite to what we now know as the Gorge. He traveled back home to Salt Lake City on the weekends. This is where he met the love of his life, Arminta Ann "Minty" Bulloch. They were married on July 16,1966 (this year would have been their 60th wedding anniversary). Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Together, they built a life centered on love, hard work, and family.
Keith and Minty raised three sons: Mark, Kevin and Robert. Their home was not just a place to live-it was a place where things were made, fixed, and built, side by side.
After settling in Cedar City, Keith started a machine shop, which he ran for several years. He later worked for the Utah Department of Transportation as a machinist, welder, and mechanic. This is where he met some of his lifelong friends, Vee Wadsworth, Danny Mitchell, and Gary Cleavland. Later, while working a third job at PK Home Center, he met Kirby Lambert. During this time, he built three homes and a cabin, where he loved spending the weekends. Keith helped each of his sons build homes of their own- teaching them not just how to build structures but how to build a life.
Keith was always creating – go-carts, desks, Pinewood Derby cars, gates, railings, trailers, Dutch ovens, cattle racks and wood stoves. There was nothing he couldn't do with his hands. But the greatest thing Keith ever built wasn't something you could see or hold. Through his steady example, he built a strong capable family. He taught is sons how to work hard, how to provide and how to take care of the people they loved. The lessons he passed down-and the families that grew from them – are his lasting legacy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Perkins at the Cancer Center, and Mission Home Health and Hospice for their incredible service, especially Ethan Bunker and his staff.
Keith is survived by his wife, Minty Lasson, and his children: Mark (Stacy) Lasson, Kevin Lasson, and Robert (Kristi) Lasson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren with two on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Helen Lasson, and his sisters Gloria Lasson and Marjorie Lasson Shelley.
