Frances G. Gilman, 67, passed away surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply. Known for her warmth, humor, and boundless generosity, Fran had a way of making everyone she met feel like part of her family. Her infectious laugh, quick wit, and natural grace left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Fran was the beloved wife of William Gilman Jr. and a devoted mother to her two sons, William "Billy" Gilman (Anthony Carbone) and Colin T. Gilman (Hannah York). She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her two grandsons, Caden and Bowen, who brought her endless joy. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in raising her boys and celebrating every milestone in their lives.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Ginger and Gus, and her brother Clifton.
A passionate animal lover, Fran adored her many pets over the years. Among her most beloved companions were her dogs Elvira, Ginny, RJ, and Dallas, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Fran also had a lifelong love of horses. She was a proud member of the Quarter Horse Association and spent more than 25 years showing horses. Her dedication and talent in the field earned her more than 79 notable awards, accomplishments she treasured and that reflected her deep commitment to the sport.
After devoting herself to raising her sons, Fran returned to the workforce, where she continued to brighten the lives of those around her. Some of her most cherished memories came from her time working for Ocean State Transit as a monitor at Richmond Elementary School, where she watched over and cared for generations of students. She also worked at Woodmansee Insurance, where, as she often said, the laughs never stopped.
Fran's greatest gift was her unwavering dedication to people. She welcomed others with open arms, offered kindness freely, and shared love wherever she went. Her timeless compassion and generosity touched countless lives, and her spirit will live on in the many people fortunate enough to have known her.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she brightened.
