It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Hall, who peacefully left us on July 18, 2025, at her home in Detroit, Michigan. Born in Knott County, Kentucky, on April 14, 1938, Frances lived a life full of love, strength, and kindness. She was 87 years old.
Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hershel Hall, whom she married on November 22, 1963. Their marriage of nearly 58 years was a testament to their love and devotion to one another, until his passing in 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Matthew) Prong, and her son, Ricky Hall. She was also the proud grandmother of Sarah Ferguson, Adam (Samantha) Eaton, Tasha (Antonio) Hall, Darren (Erika) Hall, and Jeffrey Prong, and cherished great-grandmother to Nathaniel Liuzzo, Rabecka Redman, Lilly Neenia, Joe Eaton, Kai Eaton, Antonio Anaya, Caleb Hall, Meilani Anaya, and Jaxson Hall. She was also a great-great-grandmother to Jason Firkins.
Frances was a proud grandma and great-grandma, always making sure no one left her house hungry. She was known for her delicious home-cooked meals, including fried chicken, soup beans, stuffed cabbage, biscuits and gravy, and countless other family favorites. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family, as she was always quick to feed the neighborhood kids, offering not just a meal but a sense of warmth and comfort to all who came through her door. Her heart was as big as her kitchen, and her kindness was felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Frances was strong, independent, and deeply caring-a woman who lived life on her own terms and whose love was unconditional.
As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Frances leaves a legacy of compassion, resilience, and love that will forever be cherished by all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on through her family and the memories she leaves behind.
