Frances Hamilton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 13, 2025.
Frances Renee Casey Hamilton, who loved adventure, passed on to her 'greatest one yet' on November 10, 2025 in her home in Yuma, AZ after a short, hard fought battle with Brain Cancer.
Fran was born in Silverton, OR on July 27, 1962 to Camilla Casey and was welcomed home by her brother, Michael and sister, Bonnie. She moved to Honolulu, HI at the age of 6 and remained through the 8th grade. Fran's love for swimming and surfing was born here, where she would clean the beach in exchange for surfing lessons.
In 1976, she moved back to Oregon where she finished high school & college. Fran's strong work ethic jump started her early days of working in the food industry as a waitress and cook. She moved to Jackson, CA in 1988 where she met her long time friends Kim & Trace. Along with the change in scenery, Fran left the food industry and began her venture into the insurance world working for Blue Shield Insurance. It was during her time in California that Fran's love for horseback riding and camping in the mountains flourished.
In 1994, Fran's adventurous nature brought her to Big Sky country, where she jumped into the Medical Billing world, eventually leading to the birth of her own medical billing business in Great Falls.
Memorial Day weekend in 2000 brought Fran her match in adventurous spirit, Doug Hamilton. After briefly getting to know each other, she decided to jump on the back of his motorcycle and went on a ride that was only the start of their lifetime of love. She always said that, while on that ride, she thought, "he must be a good guy cause his hair smelled good!". On July 6, 2002, in Havre, MT, Fran and Doug pronounced their love in marriage. Together, they made a life on their farm in Hogeland, flying their plane back and forth to their Great Falls home for many years. Fran loved flying with Doug and became a top notch communicator with Air Traffic Control. While continuing to run her Medical Billing business, she took farm life head on and learned how to drive trucks, tractors, combines, and anything else that was needed to work alongside Doug. In true Fran nature, she managed to juggle all of this while still cooking up the best meals! She fit perfectly into the "Farm Girl" role, and even had a shirt that said, "I Farm Like a Girl–Try to Keep Up". In addition to farming, Fran was a member of the Back Country Horsemen, Hogeland Lutheran Church and an EMT with Blaine County II Ambulance.
Living the farm life never stifled Fran's love for adventure. She learned to scuba dive and became part owner of a dive shop. She enjoyed riding her own motorcycle across the country with many acquired "biker" friends. There was no limit to the things Fran tried and loved–kayaking, hiking, jeeping, bicycling, camping, and traveling around the world, all with Doug, and often with Mike and Dixie. Fran adored meeting people and making friends–no one ever walked away from her, a stranger! She loved to cruise, go for a drive, take the train and experience unique modes of transportation–including a donkey! During their travels, Fran tried zip-lining, parasailing, diving, snorkeling, and touring.
For the past several years, Doug and Fran enjoyed spending time with their friends and family at their winter home in Yuma, AZ.
Fran's one true passion in life was being "Aunt Frannie" to her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She also loved being 'Mom' to her Labs, Kelly & Cali. She was a friend to many and will be missed by all. She was a source of strength, humor, and unconditional love. Though she's gone, her kindness and light will never fade. Thank you for being on this earth with us!
Fran was preceded in death by her mother Camilla Casey, brother Michael Casey, nephew Sean Casey, brother-in-law, Steve Humphreys, father-in-law & mother-in-law Dick & Florence Hamilton. She is survived by her husband Doug, sister Bonnie Jones-Gomez (James), sister-in-law Dixie Teague (Mike), brother-in law Danny Hamilton, sister-in-law Denita Humphreys and many much loved nieces (Lexi), nephews (Tim, Caleb, Levi, Tyler, Shay), cousins, and her special Uncle Carl 'Bim'.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Hogeland Lutheran Church in Hogeland, MT on November 22, 2025 at 11am with a lunch following.
