ANSONVILLE – On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Mrs. Frances Carpenter High, 96, passed away peacefully at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church with Rev Yvonne Hechler and Rev. Freddie Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church in the fellowship hall on Saturday.
Frances was born May 17, 1928, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Fred Perry Carpenter and the late Ellen Inez Tucker Carpenter. She was a graduate of Ansonville High School. She worked for more than 20 years with Polkton Manufacturing and later retired from Zimmer in Wadesboro.
She was an avid gardener and enjoyed raising tomatoes and loved plants and flowers.
Frances was a life-long member of Mt. Vernon Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She dearly loved her church and church family and was faithful in her attendance and support of the church and its ministries.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her sons, Alvin H. “Butch” High, Jr. (Anne Cherry) and Randy S. (Carol) High, her granddaughters, Kassidy Elaine High and Makayla Frances High and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin H. High and by her 9 brothers and sisters.
Frances’ family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers, Jasmine Peguese and Patricia Harrison for all they did for her to enable her to be at home and to her good friend, Janie Randall for all the love she has shown her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Methodist Church, c/o Joyce Meachum, 2139 Stanback Ferry Ice Plant Rd. Wadesboro, NC 28170.
