Frances Hinton Obituary

FRANCES LOIZOS HINTON
April 5, 1932 ˜ January 7, 2024

Fran Hinton passed away Jan. 7, 2024, in Vancouver, WA, in the presence of her family, at the age of 91. Fran was born in Martinsburg, WV, on April 5, 1932, and was the youngest of five children. She and her siblings shared fond memories of growing up living above their parents’ restaurant. Fran told stories of entertaining diners with her dancing as a young girl, and they would toss nickels.
In 1954, she graduated from college with a B.S in medical technology from West Virginia University and started a career as a phlebotomist. Three years later, in 1957, Fran and Bob were married.
As they raised their family of three boys, Bob and Fran moved from Huntington Beach, CA, to Vancouver in 1972. They developed a large group of friends that they spent many happy times with over the years. Growing up, the boys have fond memories of family trips to Shasta Lake and Hayden Lake. During these years, Fran enjoyed working at Lakeshore Athletic Club as an aerobics instructor. She loved her family, dancing, music, taking the dog on long walks, bingo, playing cards and trips to the casinos. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionately called her Ya-Ya.
Fran and Bob were both active members of the congregation of First Presbyterian Church for many years. Her faith, many friends, playing bridge, Friday lunches, and serving as an elder, were very important to her.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bob in 2009. She is survived by her three sons, Mark (Joni) Hinton, Scott (Karen) Hinton, and Rob Hinton (Caroline Mercury); her six grandchildren, Nikole, Allysa, Kelsey, Nicholas, Matthew, and Leslie; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main St., Vancouver, WA 98663, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.
Donations may be made in her honor to First Presbyterian Church.

Dear Hintons, So sorry you must say goodbye to Fran. Reading her obituary made me sad but also grateful that she lived a good life as a woman who loved her God, her family and her fellow human beings. She raised fine sons, too. Please send me contact information for Mark, Scott and Rob as well as a suggestion for a contribution to a charity in her memory. Marika, Greg and Becky Handakas. 570-387-8330. [email protected]

Fran was so much fun to talk with. My mom enjoyed taking her class at Lake Shore Athletic Club many years ago. Her energetic nature was inspiring.

Fran's circle was large. Family, friends, her church congregation and anyone she encountered in her life story. A love of laughter, keen sense of humor, ability to laugh at herself and such great tales to share of a life lived fully. Her presence was a force and is missed. I am blessed to have known her. Prayers of condolence and comfort for the family as they adjust to their lives without her.
