Frances H. Hoene, 92, of Sigel, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sigel. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. rosary on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Michael the Archangel School. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Frances was born on April 17, 1933, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Kollmeyer) Fuesting. She was the youngest of 9 children. She married Clarence "Shorty" Hoene on June 27, 1953 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, IL, and he preceded her in death on February 6, 1988.

Frances loved to quilt, crochet, cook and bake. She also loved spending time with her family. She was a retired cook and was known for her homemade bread and strawberry pie. Frances was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church as well as the Secular Franciscans. She was a prayer warrior and was involved with Perpetual Adoration at the hospital chapel for many years.

Frances is survived by her children, Jean "Sis" (Kevin) Harder of Effingham; Bill (Marlene Ruholl) Hoene of Sigel; Julie (Rob) Alba of Charlotte, NC, Tim Hoene of Sigel, and Kathleen (Brian) Meyer of Sigel; daughter-in-law, Karen Hoene; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Shorty; two sons, Bernie "Bud" Hoene and David Hoene; and infant daughter, Lori Sue.
