Frances Mildred Joost

Frances Mildred Joost, 96, of Conyers, GA, passed away on February 19, 2025, surrounded by a loving family.
Frances was born April 23,1928 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of Oliver & Midie McGiboney. She was next to the youngest of 14 children.
Frances married Everett Patton, but then he passed away in 1954. They had one daughter together, Jacqueline Duren (Patton). Years later, in December 1960, she married John Joost. They had two sons together, Derrick and Kevin Joost. She worked at Rich's downtown in Atlanta, GA, for several years. After that, she went to work for Southern Bell (Bell South) phone company. She retired from the company after 47 yrs of service.
Mildred loved life and enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, dancing, roller skating, and shopping for new clothes. Her modern style oriental furniture along with her decor were always neat and clean. She also loved cooking and enjoyed feeding her family a delicious meal. Traveling was also one of her passions. She always said Hawaii was the most beautiful land she's ever visited.
Francis was always known for being fiercely independent and loved doing things her way. She was also known for being tough & very competitive in everything she did. Most importantly, she was very much loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline Ann & Jeffery Duren; son, Derrick Brian Joost; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Lee & Carla Joost; grandchildren, Tammy Varela (Duren), Brian Joost Jr., Courtney Joost, and Candace Joost.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor Joe Hughes officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.
