Frances Kantrowitz Obituary
March 7, 1938 - November 26, 2024
Frances Kantrowitz, a dedicated nurse and cherished family member, passed away on November 26, 2024, in Largo, Florida. Born on March 7, 1938, to Morris and Yetta Silverstein, Frances spent her early years in Memphis, Tennessee, before moving to Passaic, New Jersey, where she completed her high school education at Passaic High School.
Frances pursued her passion for nursing at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Emergency Medicine. Her career spanned 40 years, during which she worked in various emergency rooms across New Jersey. In 1986, she transitioned to Public Health, where she served until her retirement in 2000. Even after retiring, Frances remained active in healthcare, administering flu vaccines in southeastern Florida.
A devoted member of Congregation Beth Ohr in Old Bridge, New Jersey, Frances held several volunteer positions, including President of the Sisterhood, and maintained lifelong friendships from this community.
Frances is survived by her sons, Jay (Dianemarie Haring) and Joseph (Tammy Libowsky), daughter-in-law AnnMarie (Cruz) Kantrowitz, and eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Adam, Mitchell, Alexis, Jack, Brittany, Steven, and Sam. She is also survived by her nieces, Sheryl (Bader) Katzenstein and Libby (Cohen) Stein. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Harry Kantrowitz, her son Mark Kantrowitz, her parents, and her sisters, Shirley Silverstein, Celia (Silverstein) Bader, and Isabelle (Silverstein) Cohen.
A chapel service will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Goldstein Funeral Chapel in Edison, New Jersey, followed by burial at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
