Mrs. Frances Virginia Lee Robinson McClain affectionally known as “Fran”, was born on February 29, 1928 in Claussen, SC to the late Namon and Melvina Robinson. She departed this earthly life on April 17, 2025 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
Fran was educated in the public schools of Florence School District One and was a graduate of Wilson High School, Class of 1947.
Fran accepted the Lord "Jesus" as her Savior at an early age and started her walk with Christ. She was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church. Fran was a member of the Senior, Gospel and Mass Choirs, United Women in Faith, and Older Adult Ministry.
Fran was employed by Electro Motive and Little World Daycare Center.
Fran was known for those delicious 7-layer chocolate cake and that pineapple coconut cake you choose! She could really throw down in the kitchen.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Namon and Melvina Robinson; her husband, Willard McClain, Sr.; two sons, Williard McClain, Jr. and Robert McClain; three sisters, Josephine McWhite, Ella Louise Madison and Narcessus Timmons; three brothers, Mike Robinson, Namon Robinson, Jr. and Richard Robinson.
Fran leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Curtis De Voine (Toni) McClain of Washington, D.C. and Micheal (Janie) Godbolt of District Heights, MD; five grandsons, Curtis De Voine McClain II, of Washington, D.C., Justin Holland of Alexandria, VA, Lamont Holland of Brooklyn, NY, Brandon Godbolt and Sean Godbolt of District Heights, MD; one granddaughter, Tiffany Godbolt of District Heights, MD; three great-grands, two devoted nieces, Linda (Eddie) Williamson and Regina Ham both of Florence, SC and a special nephew, Tony Madison of Florence, SC and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends at 616 W. Sumter Street, from 6 PM -9 PM.
