Frances "Joan" Meyer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 at Village Care Center in Maryville, Missouri. Born on November 12th, 1941, in Maryville, Missouri, Joan lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Meyer, of the home. A union that began June 5, 1959, and has lasted 66 years. She is also survived by her children, Robbie (Alisa) Meyer, Teresa (Kevin) Conn, and Brenda (Brian) Hunt, all of Burlington Junction, MO. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Linda Lekey, Sue Collins, Rita (Dallas) Hamilton, and Lavone Norris. Frances was a proud grandmother to Kellee Dawson, Kyle Hunt, Breann Weese, Tim, Scott, Travis Conn, Kelsey, and Trevor Meyer, and a great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beryl V. Dragoo and Esther Frances Dragoo.
Joan was a remarkable woman who excelled academically, graduating as the valedictorian of her class. In a selfless act, she stepped down to allow another student to benefit from the title and its college opportunities, choosing instead to focus on her dream of building a family and home. Her career as a homemaker was complemented by her roles as a cook and teacher's aide at West Nodaway, and as a grocery clerk, where she touched many lives with her kindness and dedication.
A woman of deep faith, Joan was active in her church and took immense pride in her family, and was considered the glue that held them together. She found joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, and she loved spending time with them. Joan also enjoyed playing bingo and trying her luck with the lottery. Her passion for gardening was evident in the beautiful blooms that surrounded her home.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, on Monday, December 1st, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a burial to follow at a later date. Her eight grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers, a testament to the love and legacy she leaves behind.
Joan will be remembered for her unwavering love, her selfless spirit, and her dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
