Frances Mollusky Nicholas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2025.
Frances Marlyn (Kalmanowicz) Mollusky Nicholas, of Lake Winola PA, formerly New Milford, NJ, the beloved matriarch of our family, passed away on January 13, 2025 at the age of 88. Born on June 18, 1936, in Dupont, PA, to loving parents Anthony and Frances (Ritzie) Kalmanowicz, Fran is survived by her loving sister, Justine Ann Scholonas and brother, Christopher Kalmanowicz. Her brothers, the late Anthony Kalmanowicz and Andrew Adam Kalmanowicz predeceased her.

She graduated from St. John's High School, Pittston and Misericordia University and spent many days working at the family-owned Kalmanowicz's Market, where she met her husband Robert Mollusky. Fran was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with a large extended family. Frances valued family, friendship, faith, and appreciated the fun-loving joys of everyday life.

Frances was a passionate teacher for over 25 years who enriched many middle school students at Ascension School (New Milford, NJ). She was an active leader in school, church and community activities.

Fran's happy place was Lake Winola, where she has been visiting since a child, and eventually retired. The lake cottage became a magnet for family fun with holiday and summer events such as the annual Water Carnivals with many crazy floats. Fun and laughter filled family gatherings with joyous memories including pontoon boat rides on the Frantastic.

Fran was married to Robert Mollusky for 32 years until he passed in 1990. They were wonderful and active parents and grandparents. Fran later remarried the late Russell Nicholas of Carbondale, PA. and they enjoyed travelling, especially to visit grandchildren.

Fran was also an active member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church (Lake Winola), past president of the Rosary Alter Society, and a Eucharistic Minister. Fran's faith in God was a driving force in her life.

Fran is survived by her children: Robert Mollusky - Jersey City, NJ, Michael Mollusky - Lake Winola, PA, Joseph Mollusky (Kathy) - West Linn, OR, Marianne Gennarelli (Cliff) - Paramus, NJ, Suzanne Kearney (Joe) - Clarks Summit, PA. Her family legacy continues through her grandchildren: Katie, Nikki, Greg, Michael, Keyna, Robert, Adina, Allie, Marissa, CJ, Jake and 7 great-grandchildren. Fran is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She so positively touched so many lives.

A memorial visitation will take place at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 1872 Dalton Road, Lake Winola, PA on Saturday, January 18th from 10 am to 11:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12 pm. Inurnment private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St Mary's of the Lake or the Lake Winola Cottage Association.

Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas J.Hughes Funeral Home.

My dad graduated with her husband, Bob, from Luzerne High School. Fran was a lovely lady. May she rest in peace. You will be missed.
