Mr. Frances Donald “Don” Moore, 76, of Crawford, GA passed away February 10, 2026.
Don was born on the naval base in Charleston, SC on January 14, 1950 to his late parents, Mr. Jack and Mrs. Ann Patton Moore. He spent his childhood in the Macedonia Community with his grandparents, the late Mr. Jack and Mrs. Edna Moore. A graduate of Greensboro High School in 1968, he went on to get a degree in heating and air from Athens Technical College.
Don found his true passion, however, as a truck driver. “Ducky,” as he was known on the road, would retire from trucking after a long and fulfilling career. Anyone who crossed paths with him would learn all about his travels across the country and the questionable stories that came with it.
When not working, you could find Don in Cleveland, GA, sitting outside his camper with his late wife, Mrs. Tracey Thrasher Moore, soaking in views of the North Georgia mountains. He would let everyone know his love for the Georgia Bulldogs by cruising on his red and black golf cart. Don swore by his daily cup of black coffee, which turned into several throughout the day, as well as an occasional cold Coke on the side. He also enjoyed a steak on Sundays with Nascar on the TV. Through his later years, Don found comfort and joy in the community of the Senior Center of Oglethorpe County. He was known to always be smiling and talking.
Don is survived by his children, David Moore, Hayes Thrasher (Sandi), Ansley Braxton (James), Benny Melton (Carol), William White, Curtis Edwards; grandchildren, Kayla Anglin (Scott), Duston Melton (Carly), Christopher Edwards (Jasmine), and Emmie Braxton; and numerous wonderful great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Brenda Floyd, Phil Moore, Glenda Hunt, and Sherri Nichols; favorite cousin Johnny Patton (Barbara); and countless special cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Mr. Don Moore at a later date. Information on the celebration will be provided as soon as possible.
The family of Don Moore would like to thank Berry Funeral Home for their wonderful support, and a special thank you to Georgia Hospice.
