Frances Pergerson

LOUISBURG, NC
Frances Smith Pergerson, 87, of Louisburg, died July 11th, 2023. She was born on October 25th. 1935 in Pembroke, Georgia to the late Hoke and Reva Smith. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Jim Pergerson Jr.
Frances spent her working career of over 30 years as a registered nurse. She worked for many years as a nurse in the emergency room of the original Franklin Memorial Hospital in Louisburg. Later, when the hospital was privatized, she left there and finished her nursing career working with the NC State Department of Corrections. During her working years and after her retirement, Frances and her family often had former patients, co-workers, and people involved in emergency services in Franklin County compliment her skill as a nurse, and her dedication to her job. As a family we could not be prouder of our mother.
Frances enjoyed a long retirement of over 20 years, where she kept busy caring for her family, while volunteering at the hospital and local clinic. Frances was a avid reader, and was always buying, sharing, and donating books to organizations like Safe Space in Louisburg.
Frances passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children, Jim Pergerson III and Susan Pergerson Marciniak; grandchildren Amanda Tillitt, and Michael Marciniak; great-grandchildren Summer Tillitt, and Hunter Marciniak.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
