Alysia Gail Bartholomew

Alysia Gail Bartholomew, 56, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. Alysia was born in Wake County on August 24, 1969, to Sandra V. Hollowell and the late Beal Bartholomew. She was passionate about her family, friends, clients and her faith. As a hairstylist in Raleigh for nearly 40 years, her clients became more like family than anything else. In addition to family and friends, she loved her job, boats and the beach, although she would tell you that she didn't take enough vacations. She had a great sense of humor and her smile and laugh were infectious. Another thing she was passionate about was taking over the Bartholomew's hot dog stand out at the NC State fair, where her father spent 60 years of his life running every October. It was one of his hobbies that she was looking to continue on and did so last year after his passing. She wasn't a huge sports fan, often complaining if it was on TV for too long. We would have to explain every year that football was on during Thanksgiving and that it lasted all day. She would constantly call during a UNC game and ask why you were irritated (despite this being a hard and fast rule in our household – no calls during UNC basketball games). She was a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving Aunt and great friend. She was taken from us too soon and will truly be missed.

She is survived by her mother, Sandra (H.T.) Hollowell; her siblings: Pamela Bartholomew and Joseph "Bart" (Stephanie) Bartholomew; along with her niece and nephew: Isla and Lachlan Bartholomew.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, March 15, 2026, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, March 16, 2026, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Saints Delight Baptist Church, 565 Firetower Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice in Alysia's memory.
