William C. Bartholomew

William C. Bartholomew, 85, of Mertztown, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in his residence. He was the husband of Joan J. (Zimmerman) Bartholomew, whom he married on July 7, 1960.

Born in Gilbertsville, Montgomery County, William was a son of the late David S. and Mabel S. (Weller) Bartholomew. William was employed as inspector for Boise-Cascade Corp, at its former East Greenville plant, then worked on the keg filler at the former Stroh's Brewery, Fogelsville, until his retirement.

William enjoyed woodworking, painting and fixing cars, but most important to him was spending time with family and his beloved pets.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, Joan, William is survived by his two children, Brian C., husband of Wanda L. (Eisenhard) Bartholomew, Hamburg, and Laura J. (Bartholomew) Smith, Mertztown; other survivors include grandchildren, Megan L. Fox, Brian C. Bartholomew, Jr. and Cory J. Bartholomew.

Along with his parents, William was predeceased by his two children, Doris L. Bartholomew, who died January 5, 2011, and Russell D. Bartholomew, who died September 22, 2019; and two grandchildren, Krystal R. Bartholomew, who died April 24, 1983; and Walter M. "Mark" Fox, III, who died April 12, 2014.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor William's life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 E. Weis Street, Topton, PA, with The Reverend Arthur L. Hahn, officiating. Burial will follow in Topton Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
