Frances Cothran Redd passed peacefully from this life on the morning of Christmas Eve, 2023, at the age of 89. Frances is predeceased by her parents, Ceary and Annie Cothran of
Mount Pleasant, TN. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jim Redd; her children, Jamie Villers (Jim), Kimberly Redd and Chip Redd; grandchildren, John Ryan Villers, Hayden Liles Redd (Melissa), Wyatt Stockard Redd, Jake Redd, and great granddaughter, Emmaline Frances Redd.
Frances grew up in the Mt. Joy community near Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. She graduated from Hay Long High School, then moved to Nashville to attend Mid State Baptist Nursing School. While she was in nursing school, she met the love of her life, Jim Redd, on a blind date. They were married on July 17, 1955, the same year she graduated from nursing school. Frances served as head nurse on the OB/GYN floor at Baptist Hospital, before choosing to work in the home while Jim started his business.
Frances was gifted beyond measure. Her sense of style was unique and reflected the grace and elegance for which she was known. She and Jim built every home they owned and she knew how to make each house a welcoming home. She loved to open her home, sharing her gift of hospitality with many over the years. Grateful for the abundant blessings in her life, she hosted each event with the purpose of glorifying God. Her home was filled with a sweet sprit and friends knew they could drop in any time for a visit and a listening ear.
Frances leaves a legacy that is grounded in her faith in Jesus Christ. Her participation in Bible Study Fellowship encouraged family members to be involved as well. She always looked forward to hosting a large annual Easter luncheon for women in the community to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. Her quiet faith encouraged and supported her family through the mountains and valleys of life.
She enjoyed travels with her family and became an accomplished photographer. She was active in the Women's Ministry at Brentwood Baptist Church, where she and Jim are charter members. She was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at noon on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Baskin Chapel at Brentwood Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am-12:00 pm.
