Frances Rhodes Obituary

Frances Hedden Rhodes, 78, of Greenwood, SC, wife of the late Luther 'Frankie' Rhodes, died Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. She was born in Oconee County, SC to the late James Virgil Hedden and Helen Allsep Hedden Mann.

A 1965 graduate of Abbeville High School, Frances spent 33 years as a cosmetologist where she brought joy and beauty into the lives of many. Her journey through life was also enriched by her time at Self Regional Healthcare where she retired after many years in the Medical Records department. Frances found much joy in spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a faithful member of Harris Baptist Church and the Masters Disciple Sunday School class. Frances will be remembered for her unwavering support and love for her family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Burton and Joyce Rhodes; and a sister-in-law, Charlene Hedden.

Frances is survived by her children, Sherry Rhodes Bouknight Roberson (Scott), Stacy Lee Rhodes (Vickie), and Tracy Lee Rhodes (Tamara); six brothers, Ted Hedden (Joyce), Robert Hedden (Ruby), Jerry Hedden (Nancy), Roger Hedden (Rebecca), Mike Hedden and Tony Hedden (Vicki); two sisters, Sue Weeks (Carl) and Debbie Boggs (Norman); seven grandchildren, Brittany B. Futch (Nick), Daniel Heath Bouknight (Lydia), Carter Lee Rhodes, Anna Katherine Rhodes, Caroline Marie Rhodes, Emily Lynn Rhodes and Taylor Roberson Thomasson (Tommy); seven great-grandchildren, Greyson, Graham, Campbell, Emory, Wilson, Brysen and Emma; a brother-in -law, John Rhodes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 2:00PM - 3:30PM, Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Harris Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 300 Center Street, Greenwood, SC 29649. Funeral services will begin at 3:30PM, Sunday, in the sanctuary of Harris Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
