FRANCES ROLAND Obituary
FRANCES ROLAND
Frances T. (Zagorski) Roland, 98, entered into eternal rest on the Lord's Day, Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025.
She was born June 3, 1927, to John and Mary (Sczesny) Zagorski. A life-long Catholic, she graduated from St. Mary's High School in Anderson in 1945. After the war, she re-connected with Robert "Bob" Roland at the Anderson Polish Club. They were married on Feb. 18, 1950, and marked nearly 60 years of marriage before Bob's death in 2009.
She was a proofreader at the newspaper and enjoyed working in the office at the Ward Stilson Company in Anderson. She retired from Elwood KMart in 1997 after 14 years of service.
She was the mother of four daughters: Christy (Dave) Sullivan of Elwood; Debbie (Garry) Harrison of Chino Valley, Ariz.; Diane (Keith) Harrison of Frankton; and Becky (Curt) Harrison of Alexandria.
She loved hosting Easter, Christmas Eve and many other family gatherings for her 11 grandchildren: David Sullivan, Adam (Melissa) Harrison, Ivy Harrison, Kelly (Deron) Kintner, Jessica (John) Hoyt, Katy (Tanner) Troxell, Jenny (Greg) Hunter, Zach Harrison, Whitney (Geoff) Keogh, Jill Harrison, and Sabrina (Travis) Stockard. She also was loved and cherished by her 18great-grandchildren: Shella Harrison, Luke Harrison, Sloane Harrison, Tate Troxell, Jack Harrison, Boone Harrison, Halle Hunter, Chloe Sullivan, Harrison Troxell, Ari Keogh, Hayden Hunter, Pierce Troxell, Ada Keogh, Wyatt Stockard, Havilah Hunter, Calvin Kintner, George Kintner, and Teddy Kintner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers John and Eugene, and sisters Mary Wnukowski, Alice Zagorski, Virginia Dolenski and Helen Clark.
Fran's family is grateful to the aides that cared for her in her home, and to Heartland Hospice and Elwood Health and Living staff for their care and compassion this past year.
Her family will miss seeing her swinging on her peaceful front porch in the country, but rejoice in their shared faith and eternal hope. Every Sunday before Mass, she would walk into the sunroom and ask Bob if he was ready, and he would reply, "You look lovely." We know he was telling Fran just that as they reunited in Heaven.
Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elwood, with the Rev. Father Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 10:45 am on Saturday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.
