Frances Rzucidlo

Frances Rzucidlo, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on September 18, 2025 at the age of 95. Fran was born in Philadelphia and lived there for her entire life. In fact, she lived in the same rowhome in Fairmount for the majority of her life, having purchased her childhood home from her parents. Fran began working at Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1948, and worked there until her retirement in 1991, spending 43 years and 7 months with the company. Fran was a true city person and she enjoyed walking to the local shops and taking the bus around town. She loved visiting the Jersey shore, especially the casinos in Atlantic City. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Hedwig Church until its closure in 1993, and later St. Francis Xavier Church. In her later years Fran moved to Lafayette Redeemer Senior Living. She enjoyed living in her apartment in Independent Living and made many close friends there. Fran loved to travel and visited her extended family in Poland on several occasions. She loved to teach the younger generations about Polish culture, and one of her favorite traditions was sharing the oplatek. This tradition occurs before the Christmas Eve meal, and the family gathers together and shares a special wafer, while sharing wishes for each other. She cried every year. She was a surrogate grandmother and great-grandmother to the younger generations. Fran is survived by her nephews Edwin Rzucidlo, John Rzucidlo (Diane); niece Linda Bonnette (Jean-Paul); cousins John Kogut, Robert Kogut (Helen), and Alfred Majewski. Fran specifically requested a celebration of her life, and she asked mourners, family, and friends not to wear black. A viewing will be held from 9:30am to 11am on Friday September 26 at St. Francis Xavier Church at 2319 Green Street, Philadelphia, PA. Burial will follow the Mass at Holy Cross cemetery at 626 Baily Road, Yeadon, PA. A luncheon will follow, and she wanted everyone to have fun. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Xavier Church in her memory.
