Frances Juanita Stokes

Frances Juanita Stokes, 88, of Palatka passed away Monday, January 19, 2026, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka.
Frances was a near lifelong resident of Palatka, having moved here early in her life from Sanford, Florida, where she was born. She had worked for Georgia-Pacific in Palatka and later worked many years as a bus driver for the Putnam County School System (a job she thoroughly enjoyed). 
She was a former member of the Palatka Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed playing bingo. She also enjoyed watching Bob Barker on the Price is Right show. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she loved them dearly. She was of the Christian faith.
Besides her parents, Emory Luke and Mary McKendree Luke, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Stokes; a son, Anthony Stokes; brothers, Larry Luke and Emory Lee Luke; and sisters, Loretta Denham and Carolyn Sharpe.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Ginger Stokes of Palatka and Jason and Andrea Stokes of East Palatka; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, at Palatka Memorial Gardens with Robert Bole officiating.
