Frances Susie Parr-Townsend, beloved devoted wife of Alonzo Franklin Townsend was the mother of Larry Townsend and Eric Townsend, Bertha Jean Townsend and Valerie Townsend, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2025. She was born in Pittsburgh, PAon February 7, 1926, to late Gerald Parr Sr. and Susie Taliaferro Parr. She was the twin to her brother, the late Frank Parr and the middle child of thirteen children, Virginia, Betty, Lois, Dorothy, Gerald, Frank, Burrell, Wilbert, Clyde, and David who all preceded her in death except Lois Gilkes. Francis was a member of the Parr and Taliaferro Family.

The family was raised in the Homewood Brushton Neighborhood.

During World War II, Francis was employed at the Federal Enamel Company. She was also employed at the Columbia Hospital in Wilkinsburg, PA. Throughout her life she was a dedicated, loving, and faithful worker at various assignments.

Her God given lifelong work was to be a wonderful, loving and caring wife and mother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and loved her family and enjoyed the job of being a mother and wife. She gave all that she had to her family with great sacrifice throughout her life. She was selfless without complaint, always encouraging every she met. Francis was a (Proverbs 31) woman. She was the wife of Nobel character.

After being introduced to Alonzo Franklin Townsend from Kansas City, Missouri and after his completion of his Navy Assignment in World War II they developed a relationship and married. Francis was a pleasant quite beautiful woman with a lovely smile and a kind heart. She always looked for the good in all situations and tried to find ways to make things better while remaining eternally hopeful. She loved babies, children, and homemaking. She was gifted in decorating, interior design and architecture. She was always available to listen and lovely care for each person while giving wise advice and counsel.

Francis had a close and trusting relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. He was her hope and anchor. Today she is resting in his arms and is happy in heaven reunited with all her loved ones.

She is survived by her children, two grandchildren, Alicia and Eric Townsend Jr.; one great-grandchild, Kameryn Townsend; sister, Lois; and a host of family and friends.

Our Darling mother, friend and relative, we love you, we will miss you, and we are grateful to God for the time that he shared you with us. We will see you again and live forever together. Rest and enjoy all and know that you are never alone.
