Frances Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Benson Funeral Home - Dallas on Feb. 17, 2026.
Ms. Frances Dodd Fields Walker, age 90, of Dallas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in Dallas, Georgia.

Ms. Walker was born November 6, 1935 in Dallas, Georgia to Mr. Joseph Reynolds Dodd and Mrs. Irene Womack Dodd. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for Paulding Memorial Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Frances worked 40 years at Paulding Hospital and nursing home. She was a caring nurse and her patients loved her. Doctors loved reading her nurse's notes. She once wrote about a patient saying he was like a bellowing giant. I'm sure her notes were entertaining.

Her hobbies include crocheting many doilies over the years and making quilts. She loved gardening with plants and flowers of all kinds. She had a green thumb and could root most anything in a glass of water. She loved to cook for her family especially at holidays. She enjoyed shopping at Rich's back in the day. In her retired years, she shopped at thrift stores finding unique treasures. The folks at the "Catholic" thrift store in Dallas knew her and grew to love her.

The most common comment I hear about her is her friendly smile and it was beautiful, indeed. She kept folks smiling and laughing every chance she got. She also loved writing poems and journaling about everyday life and events like who all had been to visit on holidays.

She attended 2nd Baptist Church Dallas, where she was a faithful member for 60+ years.

Frances lived the last three years of her life at Kimberly Personal Care Home in Dallas. When she first arrived there she played Bingo a lot. Then one day she said she had a belly full of it and stopped playing. She loved the residents there and made many friends. She was still a nurse and tried to help them when she was able. Even if only holding their hand, she was showing love for them. I'm sure the staff will always have fond memories of Frances. She is a one in a million character and we will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Brother, Bill Dodd, Wendell Dodd, and infant brother Thomas Clyde Dodd; Sister, Sara Butler.

She is survived by: Daughter, Ms. Diane Willingham; Sons, Mr. Dennis (Connie) Fields, Mr. Kenneth (Lori) Fields, Mr. Corey (Deborah) Fields; Grandchildren, Mrs. KIim (Steve) Lee, Mrs. Karen (Tommy) Freeman, Mrs. Amy (Andreas) Economopoulos, Mr. Wesley (Kelli) Fields, Ms. Hannah Scoggins, Mr. Jeremiah (Tiffany) Fields, Mrs. Autumn (Jonathan) Blan, Mr. Brandon Fields, Mrs. Courtney (Brett) East; Great Grandchildren, Mrs. Lakin (Carl) Jacobs, Lindsey Freeman, Alyssa Freeman, Aiden Economopoulos, Anna Economopoulos, Kaius Fields, Bodhi Fields, Jacob Fields, Carly Fields, Benton Blan, Aspyn Blan, Hudson Blan, Hallie Blan, Audrey Ferrell, Finley Ferrell, Everly East, Eliott East, Mackenzie Fields, Ansley Fields, Isaac Fields; Great Great Grandchildren, Lorelei Jacobs, Saxon Jacobs; Brother, Mr. Roger (Brenda) Dodd; Sister, Mrs. Gail (Jeff) Jenkins; Nieces and Nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, 4:00 P.M. at Benson Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Hebert will officiate. Private interment will follow at Dallas Memory Gardens. Interment is for immediate family only.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, 2:00 - 4:00 P.M.
