Frances Christine Washington

Frances Christine Washington was born on October 10, 1950, in Gloucester, Virginia to the late Alma B. and George S. Washington Sr. She was called to her Heavenly Home on May 1, 2024, at the Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg.
Frances retired from Eastern State Hospital after thirty-four years of service. Frances was a member of First Baptist Church in Gloucester, Virginia.
Frances "Tine", "Green Eyes", "Redtop", or "Grandma" as her family and friends affectionately called her, was a feisty, caring, stubborn, independent, hard-working, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved doing word finds, reading the news, shopping at Roses and thrift stores, watching Tyler Perry movies and western shows, listening to old music, attending gospel singing services at different churches, collecting angel figurines, and seeing her grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and George Washington Sr.; four sisters, Joyce Butler, Jacqueline Scesco, Theresa Reid, and Michelle Washington Lee; and one brother Thomas Washington.
Ms. Washington leaves a legacy of love with her daughter Michelle Washington; three grandchildren, Deborah Clayton, Israel Clayton, and Jireh Washington; three brothers, George Washington Jr., Allen Washington (Darlene), and James Washington (Ann); three sisters, Patricia Jones, Sheila Marble, and Linda Roye; one brother-in-law; Flinton Lee, one godson; Sherome Lee; special friend Robert Rodgers; caregiver Marcel Washington; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home.
