Frances Virginia Wilson of Cleveland, TN, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, met her Heavenly Father on February 3, 2024. She was born in Dalton, GA on August 21, 1950 into a large family and, as the oldest daughter, became the mother figure of her younger siblings. She continued to mother and mentor anyone God put in her path and was lovingly called "Aunt Frances" by many. She was saved in the back of a Nazarene church and became a force to be reckoned with for the Kingdom of God. She never graduated from high school but would tell people that The Lord would teach her anything she needed to know. She was a faithful member of East Ridge Church of God and later became a member of North Cleveland Church of God, where her husband served on staff. She was involved in numerous ministries during her lifetime including choir member, bus captain, Sunday School teacher, Wednesday night discipleship class teacher, Encounter leader, along with many other ministry and teaching positions. She was ordained as a Church of God minister late in life. Her favorite ministry position was loving people. She believed in the power of a person's testimony and encouraged others to leave that legacy to their children and grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Jason Sluss; her grandchildren, Elijah, Ava, Josiah, Joy, JJ, and baby T; her siblings, Danny, Charlie, Deborah, Delesa, Dewayne, Mary Ann, Peggy, Dyann, and Tammy; and her sisters-in-law Linda and Sonja, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her beloved son, Joshua; her brother, David; and her sisters, Dorothy and Jody.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, February 9th, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel. Services will be held on Saturday, February 10th, at 2 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel. Family and friends are welcome to attend a short graveside service at Sunset Gardens immediately following the funeral.
Arrangements will be handled by Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope4One, a foster and adoptive resource ministry.
