Francis Bloom Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc - Milesburg (formerly Wetzler) on Mar. 4, 2026.
Francis A. Bloom, 84, of Julian, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, just weeks shy of his 85th birthday. Born March 27, 1941, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Leroy and Anna (Lindenmuth) Bloom. On January 2, 1965, in Munson, Francis married the love of his life, Barbara J. Moore. For 60 years, they shared a bond of unwavering devotion and unconditional love. Barbara survives at home.

Francis attended Bald Eagle Area High School and dedicated much of his life to serving both his community and his family. He proudly served as a township police officer for 10 years and as a constable for one year. A hardworking and dependable man, he spent 25 years employed at Sheesley Supply and later worked at Center Concrete until his retirement in 2002. Over the years, he also hauled gas for Dewey Kumerine and briefly worked in cleaning services at Penn State, a position he famously left after two weeks, saying with a smile, "It's not for me."

Francis found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved tending to his cookstove, gardening, especially growing cucumbers, and making regular trips to the Belleville Livestock Market. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, cutting wood, and caring for his chickens. Above all, he cherished his German Shepherd dogs and treasured the time spent with his family.

In addition to his beloved wife, Barbara, Francis is survived by three children: David A. Bloom and his wife, Diana, of Julian; Susan L. Wagner and her husband, Bradley, of McClure; and Jason F. Bloom and his wife, Amanda, of Jupiter, Florida. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Hayward of State College; seven grandchildren: Kevin Bloom; Josh Bloom and his girlfriend, Harley Bartley; Brady Bloom; Lilly Bloom; Bailey Bloom and her husband, Logan Dorn; Jordy Glick and her boyfriend, Dakota Heath; Kaitlyn Glick; and three great-grandchildren: Wyatt Bloom, Adeline Dorn, and Ember Bartley. Francis was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he celebrated their accomplishments with great joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel K. Bloom; his brother, Forrest Bloom; and his half-brother, Robert Bloom.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bald Eagle Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Drew Fenstermacher officiating. Francis will be interred at Williams Cemetery in Huston Township alongside his family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bald Eagle Baptist Church, 6644 S. Eagle Valley Rd., Port Matilda, PA 16870.

Arrangements are under the care of Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc., Milesburg. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences shared at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.
