William Hoffman

1935 - 2026

William Robert Hoffman, 90, of Rio Verde AZ, passed away on January 27, 2026. Born September 22, 1935, to William and Anna (Hunt) Hoffman in Bellevue, PA, he was the oldest of two sons. The family lived in Mt. Nebo, PA where Bill attended a one-room schoolhouse until the eighth grade. He graduated from Sewickley High School in 1953 and Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University) in 1957. That same year he married Evelyn Easley and they had three children: Gary, Jill, and Joan. Together, during their 61-year marriage, Bill and Ev lived in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Washington, and Arizona, and travelled all over the world. Bill held many jobs throughout his long life, from paper boy to aerospace engineer to business executive; most of his career was spent in electronic instrumentation sales, at Electronic Marketing Associates, a company he co-founded, and at John Fluke Manufacturing Co. Bill's passions included hunting, especially with longtime friends Ed Nugent and Ceasar Gorski at the Pink Hilton in Julian, PA and with the Taylor family in Kelly, WY; fishing in Tahsis, B.C.; collecting what he called Northwest Habitat art; visiting our national parks; participating in Rotary; golfing; and supporting the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was also very involved in the Rio Verde, AZ community where he and Ev lived since 2006; together they were members of the Community Church of the Verdes, and he was a member of the Community Association Board, the Architectural Committee, the VIP Investment Group, and Desert Drivers. Bill was preceded in death by Evelyn, his daughter Jill, his brother Lynn, and his parents. He is survived by son Gary (Mary Ann) of Ferndale, WA; daughter Joan of Bellingham, WA; grandson Nicholas (Crista Hecht) of Reno, NV; grandson Joseph (Ashley Seachord) of Arlington WA; great grandchildren Kaysen and Maisey of Arlington, WA; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends from throughout the US and beyond. Bill's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Michelle and Gary Holcomb, Jane and Terry Lewis, Bob and Carolyn Wood, Cynthia Boline, Vicki Beske and the Verde Cares organization, Glory Perez, and the Rio Verde community for their friendship and care. A memorial service to be held in Rio Verde is being planned. Donations may be made to Verde Cares, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Shriners Children's Hospital.
