Frances Collins Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 15, 2025.
Frances Joyce was born on October 18, 1934, to Lennie Morgan Gibson and Marian Temperance Jordan at their home place in Faucett (Halifax) North Carolina. Growing up during the Great Depression she developed high standards and hard work ethic working on the family farms of cotton, peanuts, and tobacco, with her siblings. While she was not scouring the fields, she developed a love of music piano especially. Never having formal piano lessons, she watched her mama play and learned how to play herself. Her vibrant vocal cords made for most perfect harmony.
While she never technically had a "career", she raised five children! Enough said! Joyce prided herself with an immaculate home. She was a masterful seamstress. There wasn't a project she couldn't take on. Sewing for her children and family throughout their lives for cheer, weddings, school clothes, suits, jackets, and fancy dresses for graduations. She crocheted, refinished furniture, organized booths and parades, and embarked upon many other creative endeavors, however, we believe that weeding in her yard was her most favorite past time. She grew a most amazing garden as well. Canning and freezing and oh her Burritos! She was an excellent cook and would lay out an amazing spread for gatherings, fish fry's, holidays, etc! People came from near and far for a loaf of her zucchini bread!
Beyond being a beloved wife, mother and friend, her heart was about service. She was an honest, loyal follower of our Savior. She loved us ALL fiercely. She served at Park Baptist Church as secretary for over a decade, and gave of her love, time and finances whenever and wherever there was need.
Tho' Mama has returned "home" to Glory Land, we can all agree that this feisty little red head we lay to rest will never EVER be forgotten.
