Francis "Ike" Eisenhuth, 92, of Johnstown, peacefully passed away on January 27, 2026.
Born on April 9, 1933, in Johnstown, Ike was the youngest child of Barnett and Clara Eisenhuth. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of many years, Shirley (Miller) Eisenhuth; his daughter, Anita; his brothers, Charles and Barney; and his sisters, Patricia Ann Bunk and Hattie Brunner.
He is survived by his son, Alfred Scott Eisenhuth (Grace, nee Connelly), and his granddaughters, Laura Eisenhuth and Jenny Eisenhuth (Julian Young), all of Frederick, Maryland. He took great pride and joy in his family.
From an early age, he learned the values of hard work, service, and family. As a young boy, he watched his older brothers leave home to serve during World War II. Ike left high school at the age of 17 to enlist in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served with the Air Police at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland, an experience that remained a point of quiet pride throughout his life.
Ike's working years reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to community. He began his career at the Majestic Theater in Johnstown, later working at Bethlehem Steel and in construction. He ultimately found his long-term professional home as head of maintenance at the former Presbyterian Home in Westmont, where he served faithfully for 38 years and was respected for his reliability, skill, and dedication.
A member of First Presbyterian Church of Johnstown for over 70 years, Ike's faith was an important foundation in his life. He served the church in many capacities, including as a Deacon, Trustee, and member of the Genevans, and was an active volunteer at church meals and events.
In retirement, Ike remained active and engaged. He participated in Silver Sneakers at the YMCA, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Habit for Humanity, and rekindled a love of art, creating many creative and vibrant collages. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, embracing both adventure and companionship.
Above all else, Ike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He married Shirley in 1955, and together they built a loving home in Kernville where they raised their children, Scott and Anita. He lovingly supported Anita during her battle with terminal cancer and was always ready to help Scott and Grace, especially with house painting projects.
Some of the fondest memories Laura and Jenny carry from childhood are of holidays and mealtimes spent with Pap-Pap and Grandma in Johnstown. Words of wisdom ("Save some and spend some!") and lots of laughter were shared around the kitchen table countless times.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at The Villa, Interim HealthCare Hospice, and the Veterans Administration for the attentive and loving care they provided to "Mr. Ike".
Friends will be received at 10 AM, Friday January 30 at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown. Services will be held aat 11 AM, officiated by Rev. Matt Howe. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
